After increasingly losing channels while prices increase with our Basic Rogers (non-digital, non-HD) cable of 2 decades we are considering Bell's Fibe TV. We're old fashioned and have a land-line and internet with them. But, we have 2 HD TVs, 3 old component TVs and are going though changes in room use in the home -- some of which can do cable TV and have been fed into computers. There are teens and young adults here.
I have been deterred in upgrading to digital Rogers or to Fibe by the need for more boxes. Can someone explain, please what is needed. Do I need to have a box of some sort for every TV. If we go to Fibe then would I need to have new wiring for every room that has a TV, in which case I should wait until room rearrangements are done. We have never had a PVR. Does one need one for every TV? If you PVR on the one main TV can others access that? Can the old component TVs do Fibe TV? Does your electricity charges increase by having extra boxes (digital/Fibe) on all the time? Or can you turn them off?
We still have 2 VCRs here to do our TV recording. The one time we tried digital Rogers (~8 years ago?) we weren't able to use the VCRs and were charged extra outlet fees when were guaranteed on phone sales pitch wouldn't happen. So returned it. Would this still be the same with Fibe or Digital Rogers? Unable to use VCRs?
Thanks to anyone who can answer all these stupid questions. Missing the basics of what is actually involved if we upgrade. Fearful of just how much rewiring, and negotiating prices for fancy different boxes is needed.
